The top-ranked, 9-0 Florida Gators of coach Urban Meyer traveled to Columbia to meet the 6-4 South Carolina Gamecocks for coach Steve Spurrier.  Florida's All-SEC QB Tim Tebow threw for a touchdown as well as ran for a touchdown while All-American CB Joe Haden recorded an interception, a sack, & 11 tackles for the defense in a 24-14 Gators' win.  Florida's day started much like it had the rest of the season as the defense forced South Carolina to punt after 3 plays giving the Gators the ball at their 14-yard line.  After 3 rushing plays got the ball to the 32-yard line, Tebow connected with WR Riley Cooper on a 68-yard touchdown pass giving Florida a 7-0 lead less than 3:00 minutes into the game.  The Gamecocks did not immediately fold to the Gators' pressures as they put together a 14-play, 84-yard touchdown drive with RB Brian Maddox carrying the final yard to tie the game at 7-7.  Florida's next drive was highlighted by a 30-yard completion from Tebow to Cooper before the Gators settled for a 32-yard field goal from PK Caleb Sturgis pushing the Florida lead to 10-7 as the 2nd quarter started.  An 8-play, 70-yard drive for the Gators ended with RB Emmanuel Moody scoring on a 17-yard run as the lead moved to 17-7 early in the quarter.  Florida tried to add to their lead after South Carolina's QB Stephen Garcia fumbled & Gators' All-SEC LB Brandon Spikes recovered at midfield but Sturgis missed a 52-yard field goal attempt.  The Gamecocks responded with an 8-play, 65-yard drive behind Garcia's passing.  Garcia completed passes to 4 different receivers on the drive with the touchdown coming on a 9-yard pass to TE Weslye Saunders bringing the score to Florida 17 South Carolina 14 as the teams went to intermission.  The only scoring threat of the 3rd quarter ended with Sturgis missing a 54-yard field goal attempt.  The Gamecocks were driving for the lead getting to the Gators' 22-yard line as the 4th quarter started but Garcia's pass attempt was intercepted by Florida's DE Justin Trattou who returned the pick 53 yards to South Carolina's 26-yard line.  An 11-yard pass from Tebow to RB Brandon James & 14 yards of rushing from RB Jeff Demps had the ball at the Gamecocks' 1-yard line when Tebow pushed in for the score.  Sturgis missed a 29-yard field goal attempt on the Gators only other scoring opportunity of the quarter & Haden's interception at Florida's 20-yard line ended the final South Carolina threat.  Tebow finished with 199 yards passing with a touchdown while Cooper added 3 catches for 112 yards with a score.  Garcia threw for 186 yards with a touchdown & 2 interceptions in the loss.  Florida finished the season 13-1, ranked 3rd nationally while the Gamecocks finished 7-6.  South Carolina would play for The Belt again in 2010.
