The 6th ranked, 1-0 Missouri Tigers of coach Gary Pinkel welcomed the 1-0 SE Missouri State Redhawks with coach Tony Samuel in the battle for The Belt.  No 1-AA team had ever won the title & it became clear early that the Redhawks would not break that trend.  Tigers' QB Chase Daniel completed 16 of 17 pass attempts with 3 touchdowns while RB Derrick Washington scored 3 touchdowns in a 52-3 rout.  Missouri scored the first 5 times they had the ball heading to a 42-0 halftime edge.  Each of the 1st half scoring drives took less than 3 minutes with 4 of the scoring drives covering more than 70 yards.  Washington scored on a 5-yard touchdown run & a 28-yard touchdown reception in the opening quarter with the other touchdown coming on a 3-yard pass from Daniel to WR Jeremy Maclin.  The 2nd quarter scores came on a 28-yard pass from Daniel to WR Jared Perry, a 5-yard run from Washington, & a 65-yard interception return by All-Big XII LB Sean Weatherspoon.  Weatherspoon's return was his second in 2 games as he took a pick 26 yards for a score against Illinois.  Reserves played the 2nd half for the Tigers with All-Big XII PK Jeff Wolfert kicking a 43-yard field goal for the only points of the 3rd quarter.  The Redhawks finally got on the board when All-OVC PK Doug Spada kicked a 31-yard field goal early in the 4th quarter.  Missouri's final points came on a 17-yard touchdown run by RB Jimmy Jackson.  Daniel finished with 245 yard passing with 3 touchdowns while SE Misssouri State's QB Houston Lillard threw for 197 yards with an interception.  SE Missouri State finished the season 4-8 while Missouri finished the season 10-4, ranked 19th nationally.  SE Missouri State has not played for The Belt again.
