The 3-5 Oklahoma Sooners with coach John Blake traveled to College Station to meet the 7th ranked, 8-1 Texas A&M Aggies of coach R.C. Slocum.  The Aggies played without QB Randy McCown out due to injury & senior back-up QB Branndon Stewart filled in.  It didn’t seem to matter who played quarterback for the Aggies as the Wrecking Crew defense, led by All-American LB Dat Nguyen, completely dominated the Sooners in a 29-0 win.  After stopping Oklahoma’s opening drive, Texas A&M took the lead with a 55-yard punt returned for a touchdown by CB Jason Webster.  In the 2nd quarter, Stewart hit WR Chris Cole for a touchdown from 24 yards to give the Aggies a 13-0 lead at intermission.  The 2nd half was more of the same stifling defense from Texas A&M.  Midway through the 3rd quarter, Aggies' All-American LB Dat Nguyen recovered a fumble by the Sooners' RB Jermaine Fazande at the Oklahoma 47-yard line.  The drive stalled at the Sooners' 26-yard line before Texas A&M's PK Ryssell Bynum kicked a 43-yard field goal pushing the Aggies' lead to 16-0.  In the 4th quarter, Stewart ran for a 6-yard touchdown & hit Cole from 47 yards for another score.  The Aggies defense held the Sooners to 124 yards in total offense & held Oklahoma to just 5 first downs for the game.  Stewart finished with 234 yards passing with 2 touchdowns but was sacked 4 times & Cole added 118 yards receiving to his 2 touchdowns.  Oklahoma's QB Jake Sills threw for 81 yards with an interception & was sacked twice in the loss.  Texas A&M finished the season 11-3; Big XII Champions, ranked 11th nationally while the Sooners finished 5-6 in Blake’s final season.  Oklahoma would play for The Belt again in 2005.
