At 2-4, the Texas Christian Horned Frogs of coach Pat Sullivan hosted the 15th ranked, 7-1 Brigham Young Cougars of coach Lavell Edwards. Brigham Young’s All-WAC QB Steve Sarkisian threw for 313 yards with 3 touchdowns as the Cougars ruined the Horned Frogs’ Homecoming with a 45-21 victory. Brigham Young scored on their opening drive when RB Dustin Johnson carried in from 7 yards. Cougars' PK Ethan Pochman closed the quarter with a 34-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead. Sarkisian took over in the 2nd quarter finding WR Ben Cahoon on a 12-yard touchdown pass & WR K.O. Kealaluhi on a 13-yard touchdown pass as the Cougars pushed the lead to 24-0 before the quarter was 3 minutes old. Texas Christian got on the scoreboard with a 35-yard touchdown pass from QB Jeff Dover to WR Jason Tucker but Brigham Young's RB Mark Atuaia broke loose for a 42-yard touchdown run as the Cougars took a 31-7 halftime lead. In the 3rd quarter Brigham Young sandwiched 2 touchdowns around the sole Horned Frogs’ score; Sarkisian connected with Johnson on a 5-yard touchdown pass & RB Ronney Jenkins scored in a 6-yard touchdown run. In between, Dover found RB Basil Mitchell for a 9-yard touchdown pass. Texas Christian finished the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run by RB Koi Woods. Sarkisian completed 20 of 26 pass attempts while Dover threw for 198 yards with 2 touchdowns but 2 interceptions. Brigham Young finished the season 14-1; WAC Champions, ranked 5th nationally while the Horned Frogs finished 4-7. Texas Christian has not played for The Belt again.
