The 1-2 Oregon State Beavers of coach Jerry Pettibone met the 6^th ranked, 3-0 Arizona Wildcats of coach Dick Tomey.  Arizona's QB Dan White threw for 3 touchdowns, All-American PK Steve McLaughlin connected on 3 field goals, & All-American DE Tedy Bruschi recovered two Oregon State fumbles as the Wildcats retained The Belt with a 30-10 victory.  McLaughlin hit on kicks of 49 & 25 yards in the 1^st quarter giving the Wildcats a 6-0 lead.  White’s 47-yard touchdown pass to WR Richard Dice pushed the lead to 13-0 before the Beavers got a 3-yard touchdown run from RB J.D. Stewart to make the score 13-7.  White hit WR Lamar Harris for a 13-yard touchdown pass & Oregon State's PK Randy Lund connected from 26 yards to send the teams to intermission with the score Arizona 20 Oregon State 10.  The Wildcats got the only points of the 2^nd half with McLaughlin hitting his third field goal from 32 yards in the 4^th quarter before White found Dice open for a 34-yard touchdown pass.  White finished with 194 yards passing with his 3 touchdowns; All-Pac 10 RB Ontiwaun Carter added 114 yards rushing & Dice had 7 catches for 136 yards to his touchdown.  Oregon State's QB Donald Shankin completed just 4 of 8 pass attempts for 101 yards while rushing for 85 yards in the loss.  Arizona finished the season 8-4; ranked 20^th nationally while the Beavers finished 4-7.  Oregon State would play for The Belt again in 2004.
