The top-ranked, 5-0 Washington Huskies of coach Don James traveled to Eugene to meet the 3-3 Oregon Ducks of coach Rich Brooks.  Washington's QB Mark Brunell threw for a touchdown & ran for another while the Huskies defense held the Ducks to just 66 yards rushing in a 24-3 win.  The Huskies scored on a 14-yard touchdown run by Brunell for a 7-0 lead in the 2nd quarter.  Washington's S Louis Jones blocked an Oregon punt & the Huskies had the ball at the Ducks’ 25-yard line with 2:02 to play in the first half.  Brunell hit WR Jason Shelly on a 31-yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 14-0.  After a quick Oregon punt, Brunell drove the Huskies to the Oregon 21-yard line & PK Travis Hanson hit on the 38-yard field goal for a 17-0 Washington halftime lead.  Huskies' All-Pac 10 RB Napoleon Kaufman scored the only points of the 3rd quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run.  Oregon averted the shutout when All-Pac 10 PK Tommy Thompson hit a 56-yard field goal, the second longest in Belt history, early in the 4th quarter.  Brunell finished with 151 yards passing with his 2 scores.  Oregon's QB Danny O’Neil threw for 202 yards but was intercepted twice by Huskies' CB Josh Moore.  Washington finished the season 9-3; Pac 10 Co-Champs, ranked 11th nationally while the Ducks finished 6-6.  Oregon would play for The Belt again in 1993.
